He hath promifed to give the jays of Heaven to us ; we fhould often confider it : Then encouragement is no encouragement if it be not regard- ed. Laftly, The fame words are ufed to both alike ; the fecond Servant is approved; his Faithfulnefs commended and rewarded as well as the firft Servant. Doft. Whether our Talents be few or many, yet if we be but fncere, we ¡ball be put into everlaïting Happinefs. The Effential Happinefs of the Saints is the fame, though the Degrees differ; ten Cities, and five Cities, in Luke. (I.) They may be alike in Fidelity, though a difference . in opportunity. Their Induftry will be alike : Though their Gifts and opportunities be not alike, their Zeal to God, and Love to Souls will be alike. (2.)' The Grounds of Effential Happinefs are the fame to all. 1. They have the fame Redeemer and Mediator, Exod. 30. 15. If they had a better Chrift, another Mediator to ranfome their Souls, they might expe£f ano- ther Happinefs ; but all is brought about by the fame Redeemer, 7efus i hr , theirsand ours, 1 Cor. a. 2. by his Mediation, Sacrifice, and meritorious Righteoufnefs. a. The fame Covenant, which is the Common Charter of the Saints : Att. 2. 39. The Promife is to you, and to your Chilaren, even as many as the Lord our God /ball call. A Covenant which offereth the fame Benefits, and requireth the fame Du- ties : The fame Benefits ; Pardon and Life. Pardon ; Rom. 4. 23, 24. Now it was not written for his fake alone, that it was imputed to him ; but for us alfo to whom it ¡hall be imputed, if we believe on him that railed up 7efus Chi* from the dead. Life is the common portion of all the Saints ; 1 Tim. 4. 8. Henceforth there is laid up for me a Crown of Righteoufnefs ; and not for me only, but for all thole that love his appearing. It requireth the fame Duties of all the Saints, and they have the fame Rule to walk by : Gal. 6. r6. This fame Gofpel is the power of dad unto the Salvation of eve- ry one that believeth, Rom. e. 16. Well then, if all have no other Charter from God, to Phew for Pardon and Life, and all are hound to the Jame Duties, furely all (hall have the fame, Happinefs. 3. The fame Spirit to be Chrifts Agent, to fanaifie, and to prepare them for this Glory : He is at work in all the Saints ; e Cor. 1s. 4. There are diverfities of gifts, but the fame' Spirit. 2 Cor. 4. 13. We having the fame Seiirit of faith. Tfiis is confiderable, becaufe the Spirit doth form us for this very thing; that is, pre- pare us for this very. Eftate:: If all have the fame Heavenly Principle, all (hall have the fame Heavenly Happinefs. We have the fame almighty power within to de- ftroy fin, to raife our dead and earthly Hearts to God, to keep in us the fame lóve to him, and prepare us for this bleffed Eftate. 4. The fame Mercy of the fame Clod, diftributeth the Reward. The main grounds of the expeaation of the beft, are the Mercy of God, and the Merits of Chrill; and we have the fame mercy to trufe unto; Rom. so. 12. For the fame Lord over all is rich unto all that call. upon him : As rich in mercy to you, as to othi :rs ; to pardon your failings, to wafh off our ftains, and finally, to receive you into his bleffed prefence : They look for Mercy, and we look for the fame ikfercy : Jude. zr. All that keep thertfelves in the love of God, may do fo. (3.) The things which are abfolutely requite to this Effential' Happinefs, are the fame. As, the Vifion and fruition of the fame Gód, 1 Cor. 13. i a. with Yoh. 1y. 24. All that believe in me through their word; they have the fame Place, Heaven ; the fame State, the fame Company, they all make one Family, Eph. 3.15. Now fome are in Heaven, and force on Earth, but then they Mall all make one heavenly So- ciety, called the City of God : Heb. 12. 22, 23.
