124 Ma fying. Faith, the Cafes, Objell, participation of the Benefits of the Mediation of Chrifi. And it is called our Acceß through him unto the Fathers Eph. 2. i 8. Our coming through him unto the Throne of Grace, that we may obtain Mercy, and find Grace to help in time of need, Heb. 4. 15, 16. and through him, as both an High Prieft and Sacrifice, Heb. I o. 19, 20, 21. So do we bow our Knees un- to the Father of our Lord Jefus Chrift, Ephef. 3. 14. This an fwereth the Experience of all who know what it is to pray. We come therein in the name of Chrift, by him, through his Mediation, unto God even the Father, to be through his Grace,. Love and Mercy, made partakers of what he hath defigned and promifed to communicate unto poor (inners by him. And this reprefents the compleat Obje& of our Faith. The due Confideration of thefe things will reconcile and reduce into a perfe&Harmony, whatever is . fpoken in the Scripture concerning the Obje& of Juftifying Faith, or what we are Paid to believe therewith. For whereas this is affirmed of fundry things diffin tly, they can none of them be fuppofed to be the entire adequate Object of Faith. But confider them all in their Relation unto Chrifi, and they have all ,of them their proper place therein; namely, the Grace of God, which is the Caufe.; the pardon of fin, which is the Effect ; and the Promifes of the Gofpel, which are the Means of commu- nieating the Lord Chrift;; and the benefits of his Mediation un- to us. The Reader may be pleafed to take notice that I do in this place not only negle &,, but defpife the late Attempt of fame, to wreft all things, of this nature fpoken of the Perfon and Mediation of Chrift unto the Doftrine of the Gofpel, exclu- iively unto them , and that not only as what is noiföme and impious in it felf, but as that alfo which bath not yet been endeavoured to be proved, with any Appearance of Learning,. Argument, or Sobriety. C A Pe
