When Mfrs as you may fee, had obeyed the command ofGod , he timing him the form of the Tabernacle , and Moles felting up all things thercin according to the pattern then tis laid, in the preceding verles ; when Mofes hadfi- nifhed the work , then a cloud covered the Tent ofthe Congrega- tion, and the gloryof the Lordfilled theTabernacle, fo that Mo- tes was not able to enter in for the l;lsry thereof. Which Ta- bernacle was alwayes to be carried before the children of Ifrael ; and ifthecloud was not takenup from of! theTaber- nacle, then, they journeyed not, butfatef ull ; but if It was taken up, then they were to arife and goe on upon their journey : this rule they muff obferve, and this was tobe their Leader, and their Guide in all their journyings. Thus it is in the Hiftory, and this is the Letter : now if thereWere no more in it then fo, what advantage is it tous; but onely to dcdua and raifc force moral obfervations and dire&ions, which everycarnal man may do, and be never the nearer the meaningof the Scriptures, or to eat of the tree oflife, andof the HiddenManna, or knowing the mind, ofGod ? and having no more, we have but the Letter cthatl bills, and is no other but theeating of the tree of knowledge ofgood and evil, whereofGod hath commanded A DAM, that is whole ADAM, all Mankindnot to eat thereof : For to think that that eternal, infinite, and moil fpiritual, and divinewifdom, fhouldhave no greater depth, nor no farther wifdom to imploy it felf in, then in relating Hifiories of an outward Tabernacle, andoffilken, blew, and purple cur-! tains, and ofthe pot ofManna, andofoutwardfacrifices, and wajbings ; what depthofwifdom anfwerable to that infinite; wifdom in the Almighty Jehovah were this in hint ?
