They are Paid to be a ebargeor keeping, becaufe they were carefully to be taken, and ufed holily, as gifts from the Lord. Sol.Iarc/A explai- netb it, which thou muff keepe in e/eamne ffe (or purity.) Therefore they are called holy things, and were to be eaten (Conte of them) in the holy place, and by clean perlons onely; as in verf. 9, to, n &c. And in the Hebrew Canons it is Paid, It ú unlaw- full to defile the heave-offering (or frii- fruits) of the land of Ifrael, like al other holy things, or to bring it into the efiate of uneleannef ; but it is to be eaten being clean, and to be burnt if it be undeane. Maimony, tom.3. in frurnotb,c.iz.£t. of all the holy things] or, with all the holy things , as Chazkini here explai- neth it : fee the notes on Num. 5.9. Thus anointing is allo ufed in Lev. 7.35. This is the anointing of Aaron, and they anointing of hie forts. For this cattle the nation of the Jewes was turfed with a cuele , as having robbed, God , becaufe they kept backe their tithes and offerings, which they fftould have brought into the flare-bottle', that there might have beene meat in the houle of Gad fir his minifters, Mal. 3.8, 9, to. Some oblations in the Sanlfuarie are called holy, (and by the Hebrew Doítors, light holy things Anne holy ofholies, that is,moft holy things: of whiclfdifference, fee the Annotations on Lev. 6. 17. With thefe he here beginneth, which the Priefts only were to eat,and that within the San- ¿ uarie,v.Io. then he proceedeth to the light ho. ly things, which the Priefts & their families were to eat withinthe campe , (and in ages following, within the wals of Ierufälem:)1aft of all he fpeak- eth of other gifts, which were common, & might be eaten by any,and in any place, v. 14, &c. from the fire] in Chaldee, left (or remaining) from the fire, meaning the fire of the Altar, where Come part of the moil holy things were burned to the Lord. every oblation] This may be underflood as the generali ; and the Meat- offering, Sin- offering, &c. as theparticulars thereof: ot,ifit be meant of i things different it may be referred to thofe obla- tions appointed for the Con,regation,in Lev.23 17,-20. Thus lacchi here explaineth it, the Peace= offerings of the Congregation. And there were no Peace - offerings of the Congregation, but onely thofe mentioned in Levit. 23. as is noted on Lev. 4. 14. and 23. 19. But Chazkuni underflandeth it of the two loaves, in Levit. 23.17. and of the Shew- bread, Paying, What oblation is this ? We find afterward the Sin - offering, (to be expreffed) and af- ter'that the Trefpaffe - ffering, which were hot, of holies. If ( we underhand it) of the Burn- offering, that was not eaten : if of the Peace- orings , they were not holy ofbolies. Behold he fieaketh not but ofthe two loaves, (Leviticus 23.) and of the Shew- bread. Now both there were molt holy , and for the Prief's onely to eat, as is fnewed on Levit. 23.2o. & 24.9.
