But what is this leading of the Spirit? I anfwer.- I. It is adrawing of the foul Chri£l:.ward; draw me (faith the Spoufe) and we will run 11jter thee. There mu£1: 'be a drawing of €Jm 1 ' 4 • the foul in every dutie to Jefus Chrift; I fay to Jefus Chrift; for a man may be furnifued with eminent gifts, and with fuitable affiflances in the laying out of thofe gifts from the Spirit, and yet he may be without the leadings of the spirit; gifts exercifed cannot fuppreffe corruptioHs in a mans own heart, and hence Mar.7. t3, they that ufed their gifts are called work§rs of iniquity; gifts do Jcr.3o.u. not carry out the heart towards Chrift, but graces do; I will caufo him to draw ne~~re, and he fball . approAch unto me, for whs is this that engaged his · heart to approach ~tnto me, faith the Lord? 2. It is a givingliberty to_ the foul to walke in the wayes of :t C>Jr. 3•I7. Chrift.
