Chap.2.SeCt.9 Looking unte1tfus. Book.IV.Part.V. 921 in his eye, in his aime, at every frep ?. 0 my foul, if thou art indeed travailing towards heaven, how !houldfr thou but have it in thy motions, affections, converfations? how lhouldfr thou but dayly commune with<thy own heart, he11ven is the place that I fball come to? ere tong I jh~lt be there; I /znow that in rhis world I am but for a while, but in heaven I jh.. dl be for ever and ever; we fball be caught up into the plouds, to mret the Lora in the ~yre, Th r _ ~tnd fo fbrdl we be ever with the L9rd. Our very travell towards 1 c• 4 ' 1 ' ' heaven implies an heavenly converfation, they go from ftrmgth l'f•lme s~. 7 , to ftrength, till every one of ihem in Zion' 11ppeares before God. _ 4.Becaufe much·of heaven is already in the S aints, tbeKtngdom Lukn 7. u. of heavm i; within you, faith Chrifr; ~tnd kpowing inyour {elves Heb.1o . 34· thiit ye h11ve a better and an enduring fu!Jftante. Surely if the Saints have much of heaven within them, it mull: needs be that· theirconverfation is in hqaven; but they know thu in themfelvn; they know it by what God hath revelled in their own hearts; eternal life is already begun in the foules ofGods people ; heaven is in them, and t,herefore no marvaile if their converfation be in heaven. My meaning is not as if the Saints had no other heaven but that within them; lknow there is anheaven above; but fome pieces, or earnefrs, or feeds, or beginnings of that heaven above is within them. Is there not a renewed nature. an image ofGod, a fpark oflife, a drop of glory in Gods peo· .Pie? Surely yes; And if fo, all thefe will work heaven- ward; principles ofgrace will have fome actings of grace till we come to glory. 3. By what meanes fhould we attaine, or come up to have our converfation in heaven ? I. Let us watch opportunities for heavenly exercifes. God now by his Minifrers calls, come ye to the waters; come ye, btq ICa.1s r,;. and eat; come, huy wine, and.millz withBut money; come to me, i andpur flules fba/llive. Why now is the m·cepted rime, behold ~ Cor.6,1 • · now is the day offalvation: whiles Miniilers call, and we live un~ der the droppings of theWord, thcfe are opportunities for heaven; 0 then he that aever prayed, let him now pray; and he that never heard ,let him now hear; the Lord is now come near to us; Chrifr Jefus is calling, and mercy is entreating , and love is be- ~eeching, and wifdorne is even hoarfe with crying after us; o . · B b b b b b lay (
