Ic is not barely the Object in it Mconfidered, but as cloathed with its proper excellencies thatagree to it , and all it, nece ar which themill in its motions mull have refpea unto , before Relations, chore motions can truly lie Paid tobe Gractou, : For the nature ofGrace lies not in the aCt or motion of the will lampy and nakedly contidered, but as it's fuited and proportioned to the excellencies of the objed, and chafe Relations which do infeparably belong thereto. For inflame, To delight in God; It is not every a&of delight which the foul may have upon the apprehenfion of him ; fuch as a bare Philofophical cencep. tinof God, may i"ometimes raife the heart unto : But when the be- lievingfoul,having taken a view of the excellencies of God, and its own fweet Relation tohim, as a Gracious Father, is carried forth in a'laoly, raptureand exteltancyof fpiric. This is the Grace of Delight. 4. Propofition. Though the love of God , and the loveof Chr:f are never found one without the other, yet is there a diflind}ron neceffary to be put between them ; and that, even as great in proportion, as is between Godand theMedia:our, or between the lafl end , and theprincipal means condu- cing thereto. The love of the foul to God is [ Arnorfinis ultimi, Or ] of filch a Beingas it will be an Eternal happinefs to be united unto. The love of thefoul to Chrifl, as Mediatour, is [ Amor medii principalis, or ] of one, by whom, we may have accefs to God , and finde our happinefs in him. The formal reafon of the former, is the Divine All- ftsfcciency and Bleednefs, but of the latter the perfonal excellencies that are in Chrill, together with his ability and willingnefs to free us fromour undoing fireights and exigencies, as we are in a flareof Apo. ¡lacy andelongation fromGod.
