Verily I am guil- ty, &c, thus Confcience is Tormenter and Executioner alfo, execu- ting its own Sentence by addling the heart, and moving theaífeetions as of joy and boldnefs if the Cafe be good ; fo of horrour and fear, lham -e and forrow, if the Cafe be bad, &c. Now thefe ads of Confcience, though happly for a time fufpended as it were, are unavoidable, upon a double account : and Confcience cannot be bribed. r. Becaufe of that relation, that Confcience hath to God, it ever takes Gods pact, and God it's ; it is Gods deputy, and Viceroy ; and fo it's voice and judgement is the very Voice and judgement of God himfelf ; who can and will maintain it in its office, till he brings forth judgement unto vi Cory. 2.
