His Text prefents to us Abraham's f anding before the Lord pleading for the preler- vation of the Righteous in the delrudion of Sodonee, and for the prefervation of So- dome (if pof:ble) from DeRruc`fion, for the Righteous fake. That which we have in it more efpeci- ally to take notice of in reference to this prefent exercife, is with what apprehen- fions or conceptions of God Abraham did (peak to God, did deport himfelf towards God , d.d manage this great undertaking with God. Concerning which Four things prefent themfelves for our ObServation ; r. That thofe Apprehenfions or`Conceptions Abraham had of God, did highly exalt and magnifie the greatnefs and excellency of. God in his heart Behold, new I have taken upon me to fpeak, unto the Lord ; One who hath Excellency, and Soveraignty, and Majetty, and Dominion, and Power, and Glory. 2. That they were fuch Conceptions of God as did humble, vilifie, and abafe Abraham in himfelf in comparifon of God ; I have taken upon me to fpeak unto the Lord, which am but Duft and fljhes ; A finfull, weak, worthlefs, frail piece of vanity and mortality. 3. That they were fuch Conceptions of God as did reprefent him Gracious, Propitious, Bepevolous to the Creature, notwithfìanding the
