From what bath been laid down we may conciude,That fuch appre- henfions or Conceptions of God wherewith we are to draw near to God, to perform every duty, and evey part of Divine Worfhip muff flow from the manifeflations of God in Jefus Chrifl}. You may obferve, they confia of two parts, The one, Natural, the other,Spiri- tuat.; The one, External, tike other, Internal : The one, as it were, the Body, the other, the Soul of it ; 1 he one, reprefenting the Humanity. the other, the Divin'ty of Jefus Chrift: So that every Ordinance of Worfhip is (as it were) a reprefentationof Chrift Incarnate, 2. The Divine Ef'ence or Godhead in jefus Chrift feems to be the proper objeet of all Worfhip. The School-men have concluded (to which I find our learned and Dr Owens pious Divines haue given their agent) That the L f fence of the Godhead Commun. is the primary and proper Objet of Worfhip. with the hol}r. Tliis Divine Effence is wholly in Chrift;Col.2.9.In him dewelleth all Ghoft,ch4p.8.. the fulfiefs of the Godhead bodily : In that Body or Humane Nature of Chrift the fulnefsof the Godhead dwelt, not locally, (as Locatt m in loco,or contention incontinente) but by perfonal Union. And the Divine Effetice as it is in Chrift, feems to be the proper Objet} of all Gofpel- Worfhip : It was fo under the Law in Types and`Figures ; and fuch was the Tabernacle and Temple Worfhip in its fpiritual Notion.
