Of .EIH1ion. ~ 1!. Next for Explication of the thing it felf, Chap. 2, 1 • That when 'tis faid, there is all ofdifpenfatory Grace to be given forth ;~ the cortfectary that followeth from thence IS, that there is no temptation t hat doth; or can befall a Saint , that's under the dominion of free-grace, but God bath a Grace prepared, to be appliedm due time: It fpeaks that he hatil a Grace fitted , and fuited, to give it lonh, as need and occafion lhall require: There is no Sore in the Heart , but he bath a Platfler ready fpread for it, to be laid on in due feafon: He hath cut out his Grace into fingle Plaifiers. Tl]e reafon of this Confectary is, that look as the word Grace in the thing it (elf, is a Relative to need, and to temptation; fo all Grace mufl needs be a Rela– tive to all, or any needs whatfoever. If there were any want, which the Liejge-fubjects of Free-grace, ( fo I lhall 11ill call them, as in relation to the dominion of Grace,) are capable of, and God had not a fpecial Grace for it, he were not tbe God of all Grace: For than the mifery of tbefe his Subjeek of Free-grace, would be more extenfive, and larger than his Grace, which to befure lhall never be faid of God, when God is faid to be Almighty,(which is by interpretation, the God of allpower;) what'uhe import ofthat? Th~t all matters of extremef1 difficulty, are poffible to him; yea, notbing too hard, as Jeremy firft, Cbap. 32, 17, 27. And an Angel to the blelfed Virgin af– terwards, Lttke 1. 31'· But you will fay, God may be Almighty, and nothing is too hard for his power, when yet I may not be relieved; for God is faid to be Omnipotent, but not Omnivolmt; and fo he may be the God of all Grace, and yet Ifor ever be denied in my particular cafe. But I reply; when you lhall fay he is the Godof aliGract, who is in himfelfalfothe God ofaliPower, put but all Gnce unto all Power, and the refult will be, that he bath a gracious will to put forth power; and put forth all his power; and it is at Graces difpofitl:That he is the God of all Grace, makes him all-willing : And that he is the God of all Power, fpeaks his ability to help accordimg to his will , which Orace bath ingaged : Joyn, !fay, butthefe together, according to that of the Pfalmi(z', God bathJpokm once, twice have I heard it, Power belongs to God: Aljo 1tnlothee 0 Lord 6el011geth Mercy, Pjat. 6:z.; I I, n. And thou that art a dq– pendent upon, and Leig-fubject of Free.grace, muf1 needs be fecure in all thy Temptations, for a gracious Ilfue : for if all Grace did not ferve to help in all cafes that Grace ferves for, Grace were not Grace: Joyn God of all paw– power , al'!d God of all Grace, and what will not be done ? 2, The fecond thing; As he bath Grace for all needs, fo he is a God of all G<ace to give forth help as the need and occafion fuall require: For need is the timeandfeafon forGraceto lhew it felf, He6. 4.r6. Lt/114 therefore comt boldly tmto the Throne of Grace, that we may obtain Mercy, andfind Grace to help, zn time of•ued, And as Solomon, r Kings 8. f9· frames his Prayer, That God woH!d mai11tam the caufe of his People Ifrael at att times, M the 1n1tter fbalt require: This is full to my joyning the former, and this together; for he laithat alt times, as well as in all P1atters: If God lhould let flip any one due time and feafon for help to any one need, he were not the God of all Grace. For it is one part , and a great part of being gracious , to relieve ones need , in time of greatef1 need• . 5• That God is aGod of all Grace, in t:efped: of difpenfation, fbews that God takes not this Title upon him , Potentially; that is, that he hath Grace in him which is able to help; But it fpeaks that he is a Ood that, de faCio, in aflu exercitodoth, and will manifef1 himfelfto be fo, And that by lnfiances of all fortS ; he will actually give full proof of his Minifiry, or Oeconomy of Grace : (That I may allude to that Speech ofPaul toTimoth1, 2 Tim.4,f .) That fo at latter day, he may have the honour, not only of having been the Goo of all Grace Potentially, but the God of ai~Grace Actually, and in the performance of it: And this is feen in fin, which is the worf1 of all Tempta• tions, and Miferies: There is one Temptation , or fin indeed that is excluded from this Grace; 1 Co~. ro.q.
