Being cloa`hed with this,we mayenter Heaven, and converfewith the pure ft- cietyof Angels without blufliing. TheSaints who now reign inGlory, were not Men who lived in the Perfeótion of Holinefs here below ; but Repenting Believing Sin - ners, who are waffled white in the Blood of the Lamb. The molt univerfal hindrance of Men's complying with the conditions of Pardon by Chrift, is, the predo- minant love of force Luft. Although Men would enter- tainhim as a Saviour to redeem themfrom Hell, yet they rejeEt him as their Lord. Thofe in the Parable who Lake r faid, We will not have this Man to reign over us, expreft the inward fenfe and filent thoughts ofall carnal Men. Many would depend onhis Sacrifice, yet will not Cub - mit tohis Scepter ; they would have Chrift to pacifie their Confciences, and the World topleafe their Affetti- ons. Thus they divide between the Offices ofChrift, his Prieftly and his Regal. They would have Chrift to die for them, but not to live in them. They divide the ands of the fame Office : they leanon his Crofs to fupport them from falling to Hell, but Crucifie not one Luft on it. They are defirous he fhould reconcile them toGod by his Sacrifice, but not to biefs them,in turning thermfrom Acts 3, zd. their Iniquities. And thus in effeEt they abfolutely re- fute him, and render his Death unavailable : For the receiving ofChrift as Mediator in all his Offices, is the Condition indifpenfably requifite to partake ofthe Be- nefits ofhis Sufferings. The Refigning upof our felves to him as our Prince,is as neceffary an at of Juftifying Faith, as the Apprehending the Crucified Saviour. So that in every real Ghriflian, Faith is the Principle ofO- bedience and Peace, and is as infeparable from Holinefs as from Salvation. Toconclude this Argument: Fromhence we may fee, P p How
