Inferiour x Creatures have a refemblance of other Divine Attri- butes : The Winds and Thunder fet forth God's Power, the firmnefs of the Rocks, and the incorruptibility of the Heavens are an obfcure reprefentation of his Unchangeablenefs ; but Holinefs, that is the rnoft Orient-Pearl in the Crown of Heaven, only fhines in the realonable Creature. Upon this account Man on- ly is faid to be formed after his Image. And in Men . there are forceappearances ofthe Deity,that do not en- title to his fpecial Love. InPrinces there is a fhadow of his Sovereignty, yet they may be the objets of his dif- pleafure ; but a likenefs to God in Holinefs attratshis Eyeand Heart, and infinitely endears the Creature to him.Now this Attribute is in a fpecial manner provokt by Man's fin, and we are reftored to the favour and friendfhipofGod, in fuch amanner as may prefervethe Honour ofit intireand inviolable. This will fully appear by confidering what our Re- deemer fuffered for the purchafing our Pardon, and the terms uponwhich the precious Benefitsof his Death are conveyed to us,and what hehath done to reftore our loft Holinefs, that we may be qualified for the enjoyment of God. z .
