As in the Natural Life, the molt early exercife of Reafon excites de- fires and hopes to obtain what may fup- ply the wants of it c So in the Spiritual Life, when Faith difcovers to us Coyle- ffial Bleffednefs revealed in the Gofpel, it produces earneft inclinations and hopes of partaking of it. Love in its perfeaion is the Grace of Heaven, where God exhibits his Brightnefs and Beauty , without a Veil, to the Saints : This is above our Conception and Capacity here. Fear fometimes degenerates, and has a fervile afpe& on Punitfhment, which is confi- fient with the love of Sin. Hopeof the Happinefs to which we afpire, is not fo elevated as Love, nor fo low as Fear ; but
