The Son of God incarnate is both the Author of our Holinefs, and the Pattern of it. As the Sun is the, firft Fountain of Light, and a Chriftal Globe fill'd with Light, may be a fecondary Fountain, tranfmitting the Beams unto us : So the Deity is the original caufe of all created Holinefs ; but 'tis tranfmitted through the Media- tor. In his Life on Earth there was a Globe of Precepts , a perfe± Model of Holinefs. All the aaive and fuffering Graces appear'd in their exaltation in his pra&ice. Our Relation to him inferrs our like- nefs : For whom he did foreknow, he did predefinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the fir/-born among many Brethren.
