TheDivine Wifdom has annex'd Rewards and Pu- nifhments to ftrengthen the authorityof the Law, to work upon Hope andFear, which are the fecret fprings of Humane AEÌ ions and for the Honour of his Goodnefs and Juftice that are principally exercifed in his Moral Government. That Hope may be a powerful motive to do our Duty, and Fear a ftrong bridle to reflrain from Sin, the reward muff exceed all the temptations of Profit, or Pleafure, or Honour, that can accrue by tranfgreffing the Law, and the penalty of all the Evils that may be infliaed for obedience to it.
