The fear Of the Lord is clean, effeaively. This will pre- vent fecret Sins, which are only known to God. Thou¡halt not turf the deaf, nor lay "a f umbling-block before the blind, but fear the Lord. Fear is an Internal Guar- dian, that keepsthe Heart pure, of which God is the infpeaor and judge. It will not fuffer us to Sin freely in 'Thought, nor foully in A&. When Fear draws the Lines of our Duty, our Steps will be Regular. Fear keeps us clofe to God, by the perfwafion of his All-feeing Eye, and is äppos'd to the forgetfulnefs Of God, the caufe of all the Errors of our Lives. HolyFear will make us to per- forni our Duty in thofe degrees that are commanded, to pleafe God. 'Tis the Principle of perfeverance : thus God affures his People, I will put my fear in their hearts , and they ¡hall never depart from me.
