When a Man's ways pleafe the Lord, he will make his enemies to be at peace with him. Efpecially in all aas of Worfhip, this Grace 'Mould be in its high& exercife. 'Tis the Apofile's direaion, Let us draw near with reverence and godly fear, for our God is a confuming fire. We mutt fo- lemnly confider the Greatnefs of God, who dwells in Light inaccefble , and is a confuming Fire to all that difparage him by flight and carelefs Addreffes. Shall not his Excellency make us afraid ? In Prayer let us draw near to his Throne in the deepeff fenfè of our meannefs and unworthinefs ; and tremble at the hear- ing of his Word. This difpofition will make us acceptable in his Eyes. The Lord with, The Heaven is my throne, and the Earth is my footftool ; to him will I look, who is poor and of a contrite fpirit, and trembles at my word. And in times of Temptation, when pleafing Luf}s are imperious and violent, then 'tis neceffary to controul them by the fearful remembrance, that for all theft things God will bring to to Yudgment.
