Spiritual Perfèelion: fcience, and elude their Duty by delays : They are unwilling to be holy too loon, and in an excellent degree: They pre- fume there will be time enough hereafter for to reform themfelves , after their Vo- luptuous Affeaions are fatisfied , after their Worldly Acquifitions , they will forfake their Sins, and become holy. But this is unaccountable Folly, rather a De- lirium than Difcourfe. There are innu- merable Contradi&ions, of which the Lives of Men are compounded ; they complain as if Time were intolerably short, and wale it as if it were intole- ïably long : They ,ufe all Arts, that Months may feem as Hours, and Years pars as Days. But in no Inftance is this Folly more vifible, than in negleaing the working opt their own Salvation, till Time and Grace are paff, When noper- fon can afire himfelf of the next Mi- nute : They prefume upon fuch a remote poffibil ty , that after the belt of their days are fpent in the Vanities and Bufi- hefs of the World, there will be time to do the one thing neceffary. How many are difpatch'd to the Grave and Hell in the midff of their hopes of long Life, and their refolutions of future Repen- tance ?
