Spiritual Per fec` ion: and the future Happinefs of the Saints will be in degrees, according to the de- crees of their Holinefs. Not as if there were any Merit in our Works to pro- cure the Eternal Reward, which is the Gift of his molt free Love ; but his Love rewards us according to his Promife that they who fors bountifully , ,hall reap bountifully ; and in proportion, as the Graces of the Saints are exercifed here, their Glory will be in Heaven. In this the Goodnefs of God is admirable, he works all in us, and rewards his own work : His Service is the belt ; for he that commands works ; and that I obeys, reigns. f we refpeEt the Glory of God, and our own, let us endeavour to be compleat in Holinefs. 'Tis true, God beftows his Favours as a free Lord, and liberal BenefaEtor, va- rioufly ; but he diftributes Rewards in the next Life as a Governour, according to the inviolate Rule eflablifh'd by his Wifdom in his Word. As the quality of the Reward is according to the kind of our Works, fo the degrees are ac. cording to the meafure of them.
