But yet he that denieth that Tome things in Scripture are hard to be underftood , will con- tradiâ not only Peter's words, but his own and all mens experience. For as it pleafed God to make up the World of variety of Creatures, fo alto tomake up the Scriptureof Truths ofvarious degrees of neceility and 'evidence. And in this Point there are fo many Texts, that both Sides think do favour their Opinions, that we have not the fame cer- tainty as in many otherPoints, and therefore not the fame content and concord among the learnedeft Divines , and the godlieft Chriftians And in. my Obfervations molt on each fide are more moved to their Opinion in this, from the congruity that they think it bath with other Verities or the Analogy of Faith, than from the proper plain fenfe of the Texts which they themfelves alledge. So that thoughno doubt the Truth is to be found in the Scriptures, yet not with fuch eafe and cer- tainty as will allowus tomake thedecifion of this Point, any part of the terms of our necetfaty Concord.
