Prefer the honour of the elder fort. 391 lD I REC T. XIX. Keep up the Reverence ofthe ancient and e. periencedfort of Chriflians, and teach the younger what honour they owe to thole that are their elders in age and grace : For whilefl the elder who are, ufually foher and reacaable , are duly reverenced , the heat of ram and giddy youth will be kept in 'order. USually where the elder bear the foray the Church hath peace (Though I know forme deceivers grow worfe and worfe : ) And it is where the young and rash are become the predo- minant moff efteemedparty, that fchifm and dif o rders do prevail. And though force tell the people , what honour they owe their Elders by r,îcé ; yet few acquaint them what honour youths owe both to the Elder in age and in experience and grace. It will therefore be muchof the pru- rience of the Paffors, to keep up the honour of the Elders of thepeople, and to preferve in the younger a due ,eaeem and reverence towards them.
