God bath already in his written Laws, inflituted his publick worfnip-ordinances : and therefore he bath done it perfectly : and therefore he hath not left it unto man to come after him and mend his work, by making .other ordinances-of wor hip, as to the fub[tance of them. He bath given us one faith, and nomanmay preachanother, and one Bçtptifm, and no man may inftitute another : and fo of the like. If any one bringanother Golpel, though an Angel, he is to be accurfed, Gal. I. 7, 8. g. 5. Yet is it in the Power of man to Metermine offuch Modes and Circumltances as are neceffary to the prrformiince of that worfhipwhich God bath inaituted in his word : And therefore lawfull Governors may in fuch cafes bind us by their commands. .6.The things that are committed to humane determination; are fuch as are commanded in general by God himfelf (either in Scrip:ure or nature,) but are left undetermined in fpecie, vel individuo : fothat it is not a thing indifferent, whether a choice or determination be made or not, but only whether it be this or the other that is chofen by the determination. But where the thing it (elfingenere is not neceffary, or no humane eleetion or_ determination neceffary,becaufe God himfelf bath determined of it already, theremen are not to meddle, as having no autho- rity from God. g. 7. I fhall firft give fome inflances of the former fort (the Lawful' Ceremonies) and then name the latter (that areunlaw- full,) which I (hall afterward give my reafons againft. And a. It is left to humane determination what plaice the Publick affemblies (hall be held in. God having commanded us to frequentfuch affemblies, andnot forfake_them, doth oblige us to tome place in general, and to a fit place. He that bids us preach, and hear, andpray, and affemble to there ends, doth . plainlybid us, do thistome where. It is impoffible to meet, and not in a Place. And in that he bath not determinedofany place himfelf, he bath left it to our reafons to determine of as occafion tihall require. God bath not commanded to build a Temple
