( 453) and fo I will obey both God and them. Ifan ufurper command me to do a thing in it felf indifferent,I will not do it becaufe he comtnandeth it : but yet if accidentally it become my duty, by conducing to a.nothers good, or avoiding their offence or burr, er anyother accident,I will ufe it for there ends, though not for his command. 4.2. The 'Pope i. As theVice-chris or univerfall Head, is an ufurper; and therefore bath no authority to command me or any man (in that relation) the fmalleft Ceremony. 2.The Pope as Patriarchof the Weff,is an humane creature, and not of Divine inaitution, and was indeed a finfull inaitution from the firft of his creation ; but if it had been otherwife, yet fince is that Patriarchfhip become unwarrantable, fince he hath for- feited it, and the world bath found the rifchiefs of it. So that no man is therefore bound toufe one lawfull Ceremony becaufe thePope as Patriarch ofthe Weft commandeth it. 3 .if this were not fo, yet Brirrain and Irelandwere from the beginningnone of his Patriarchate, nór did at Nice confent to it : and therefore have the lefs appearance of anyobligation. 4. 3.
