But his Majefty very gracioufly renewed his Profeflions, (I muff not call them Promifes) that hewould bring us together, and fee that the Bithops fhould come down and yield on their Parts; and when he heard our Papers read, he feemed well pleafed with them; and told us, he was glad that wewere for a Litur- gy, acid yielded to the EJJence of Epifcopacy, and therefore he doubted not of our Agreement with much more which we thought meet to recite in our following Addreffes, by way of Gratitude, and for other Reafons eafy to be conjeetured. § 99. Before this time, by the King's Return many hundred worthy Minifiers were difplaced, and call out of their Charges, becaufe they were in Sequeftrations where others had by the Parliament been call out : Our earneft Delires had been that allscrch fhould be cart out as were . in anyBenefice belonging formerly, to a Man that was not grofly infufficient or debauch} ; but that all that fucceeded fuck as rhefe Scandalous ones fhould hold their Places: butthefe Wilhes being vain, andall theold ones reltored, the King promifed, that the Places where any of the old ones were dead, fhould he confirmed to the Poffefiófs : But many got the BroadSeal for them, and the matter was not great ; for we were all of us to be endured but a little longer. However we agreed to offer there five Requefts to the King; which he received. Agreed to be verbally requefied of the King. t.
