Many have more reafon, I fay, to turn their complaints in- to this tune. 2. Another molt commonunhappy mifcarriage of fad Chriftians lieth here, that They Will rather conti- nuecomplaining and felftormenting, then give over finning, fofar as they mightgive it over if they Would. I befeech you in the Name of God, to know and confider what it is that God requireth ofyou. He doth not delire your vexation,but your reformation. No further doth hedelire the trouble ofyour mind, then as it tendeth to the avoidingofthat fin which is the caufeofit. God would have you lefs in your fears and troubles and more in your obedience. Obey more, and difquiet your mind lefs. Will you take this counfel prefently,and feewhether it will not do you more good, then all the complaints and doubtings of your whole life have done. Set your fell with all your might againft your pride, worldlinefsand fenfuality.your unpeaceablenefs and want oflove, and tendernefs toyour Brethren ; and whatever other fin your confcience is acquainted with.
