1 Chap. i 2 , and the Covenant of Grace. $ 5 gives us intereff in the Mediatour of the Covenant without which we have no title to him, or portion in him is a Condition of the Covenant:This is plaine of it felf without intereff in the Medi- atour of the Covenant we as though no Covenant were entred, and the former diftance held up But it is Faith that gives us in- tereft in Chrift the Mediatour , he dwells in us by faith F. phef. 3 17. He is fèt forth a propitsatir n.through Faith in hu blood, they that beleeve receive him, john 1.12. others hold a diftance from him ; To ad m.1ny as received him to them he gave power to be the. (onnes of God, even to thole that beleeve in his Name. That which receives all that grace gives,muft needs be a con+ dition of the Covenant of Grace ; This is as plain, to be under a Covenant of Grace , and void of the gifts of grace is in vain to enter upon it. But Faith receives all, that Grace gives ; it is of Faith that it might be of Grace, Rom. 4, 16. God gives nothing, at leaft tending to eternity but he puts it into the hands of Chrift ; He is the Fathers treafury and flore - houle, Col. i. 19. It pleated the Father that in him all fulve f fe fhould dwell. And that of his fulve fe vre fhould all receive John i. z 6. He that beleeveth , out of his belly Howes rivers of living water. John 7.38. That which interefts us in, and'gives title to all priviledges of a people in Covenant with God through Chrift, is a condition of the Covenant : This is plain, the end of the Covenant being to conferre thofe priviledges upon us; But Faith interefts us in, and gives titleto all thefe priviledges. Paul is Pent to the Gentiles, to turne them from Satan to God to bring them out ofSatans Dingdome, and to bring them in a Covenant -way into Chrifts Kingdome That they may receive forgivene(fe of fins,and an inhe- ritance among them that are (anaifaed (faith Chrifl) by faith that is in me. Chrift is the objec4 of a Chriflians faith,on whom it is terminated and faith which is in Chrift, receives that leading priviledge, forgiveneffe of fins; without this priviledge we are ftrangers to all other; being under fin we are heires of wrath, and in no capacity of mercy. Faith interefts us in this, Abis io. 43 T o him give all the Prophets witne fe , that through his Name, rehofoever beleeveth in him, 'hall receive remiffion o' fins. Pals 13 , 39.
