(: H A P. X X. ciTtinifters of' Chrift< muff bring their people up to the termes of the Covenant, prefsing the necefsity of Faith and Repentance. THen it farther yet followes, that the Minifters of Chrift are to call their people unto thefe duties before mentioned as conditions. 1 hey muff urge and prefl'e the neceflity of Faith and Repentance. Thefe are the termes of the Covenant, and ftipulation to which God in Covenant doth engage, in which the Apoftles of Chrift (pent their paines: 7effifying both to legs and Gentiles, repentance towards god, and faith towards 'our Lord Jefue ChriJ?, Alts 20. 21. And this muff be the bufineffe ofthofe that make it their bufineffe to preach the Gofpel in all ages. Men muff be taught to obferve what Chrift commands and teaches, c..Adatth. 28. zo. Thefe Chrift teaches, and gives in charge; Thus he begun his Miniftery, Mark I. 15. Repentye, and beleeve the Goffiel. They muff fo preach that menmay not perifh, that they may not be the favour of death: But they only that beleeve, fhall not perifh, ohn 3. 16. They that repent not,. muff perifh, Luk; 13.3. They muff fo preach Chriff that men may have their in- tereft in Chriff , that they may not be caft off by Chriff: But Faith gives this intereff ; He dwells in our hearts by Faith, Ephef. 3. 17. Workers of iniquity muff be caft off, Mat. 7.23. Depart from me, all ye that workjnïquity. It is no plain dealing in any of the Miniftery of Chriff to make tender of promifes, to hold forth priviledges, and conceale the termes upon which . they may be obtained ; to fpeak of falvation to men in fin, without fo much as the name of fanditïcation or application to God in a way of Repentance ; to tell men in the Prodigals courfe, the Fathers bowells, and readinef e to meet.themwith kiffes, without men - tion of the Prodigals humiliation or coming in; to tell them of the
