That we may interpret, and not commit Scriptures , finde out the fenfe of all and not create differences in any ; we may obferve that though it be granted that thole that have the Law written in their hearts, and put into their inward parts do enter Covenant, and not break it ; yet it is not Paid none ¡hall enter Covenant and tranfgreffe it. There may full be an outward Covenant according to Interpreters , that may be broken, as well as an inward Covenant that (hall be obferved. If it be Paid that thefe are two diftinft Covenants one fucceeding the other ; one abolifhed when the other takes place according to that of the Apoftle, lieb. ,8. 13. In that he faith a Ne ra Covenant he hath made the fr: fl Old; now that which decayeth and waxeth Old, ú ready to vanifh a- way ; then it will follow ( this being the charaeteriftical dif- ference) that as none in New Teftament -times enter Cove- nant , but they keep Covenant; fo none in Old Teffament- timer were in Covenant but they did tranfgreffe it ; at leaft that the Covenant that then was, was wholly tran'fgreffe able; and the Covenant that now is, is not in any poffibi- lity to be tranfgreft. But the contrary is evident, there weee thofe that kept Covenant in Old Teffament -times Pfal, 44.i 7. All this is come upon , yet have We not forgotten thee, neither have We Aealr fallely in the Covenant , Pfal. 103.17.
