Thefe are either fuch gainft Chrift g and obfcure that render Chrift in an uncapacity to be our Mediator and his glory. Saviour, or fuch that are inconfiftent in whole or in part wich his Mediatorfhip ; of the former kinde are thofe that are againft his perfon. i. Thofe that impugn the God - `head of Chrift, fuck that though they give him the glory to be above Angels, yet will have him no more then a crea- ture ; a God in title and place as are Magiftrates, not in nature or power ; an opinion that involves the Apoftolick Church, and all Churches in fucceffion in Idolatry, giving the honour ofGod, the worfhip due to God,unto him who by nature is no God ; a docftrine that will make Chrift an impotent, and not an omnipotent head,too weak for his work to govern the world, to bring under his enemies. 2. Thofe that deny his manhood, as having not taken our flefh, and fo no fuitable head, but a phantaftick or feeming body. 3. Thole that are againft his Mediatorfhip; thefe are either fuch that obfcure, or fame way eclipfe it, fo doth every Error that is any way confiderable, or fuch that raze, if not utterly overthrow it in force of the neceffary parts of it, his Kiugdome, Priefthood, or Propheticall Office, Thefe are overthrown either direly in terms of full oppo- fition, or elfe by confequence, and this fuch that is imme- diate and evident, the truth being confeft, thefe cannot be' denied, or elfe the confequence more remote, and not fo eafily difcerned. Thefe things being premiièd, we muft Srp,ration in bring it home to our purpofe. i.
