Ch.44 of the if tie of Beleevers. preach the Cdel, dnd that the AJ7'embly did rnifalledge the Text, a Cor. 4, t , as they have done the other , to prove that neither Sacra- ment, may be difpenfed 65 any , but a Mini f er of the Word laWfully ordained, Confeffion of Faith, Chap. a7. Se61.4. Perhaps when the Affembly voted that Text for this purpofe , they had read what MalterTombes had, pag. 59. of his Examen, where fpeaking of admiflion to Baptifme , A Miniflrr in this cafe ( faith he ) ïs to ael. as a Steward who is to de ale according to his Lords will, not his own minds.. Is not Baptifine then one of the myfte- ries of which they are Stewards ? or perhaps they thought that the Sacraments are contained in the Gofpe!, and are verbum vifi6ile, being teaching fignes. If marriage be not that great myfterie, Ephef <.32, but the union of Chrift and his Church, then certainly the Sacraments (in which we have that communion and fellowfhip with Chrift, tCor. io. 16.) are not excluded from the number of myfteries. Let Malter Tonabes take heed of that piece of Sacriledge that his own mouth hath pro- nounced accurft and that renders a man an enemy of Chrift and his Church. As there is a feparation for this publick work , fo there is alto a feparation more general! from Idols to God , upon which ac- count Chriftians are called Saints.
