214 I The Spiritual-aRings of Faith haft called me to this work : difficulties arife upon me, fure. ly thou hail called me to this work : they are not therefore to make a floppage in my proceedings, but to drawout my faith : now therefore, I dohere lay the waiteofmy poore guiltyfouk upon thee, do with me whats good in thineeyes : Ah Lord, my prayers are dead, my affeaions dead, and my heart dead : but thou art a living God, and I bare my felfe upon thee, Beloved, ifye can beleeve, all things are pollible; ifyou cannot beleeve, all things are unpoffible ; faithwill make a thing eafy though it be never fo difficult : as unbelief doth make a thing difficult though it be never fo eafie. This is a certaine truth : nodifficulty can Band before faith : truefa- ving juftifyingfaith carries the Joule through all difficulties, difcouragernents, and naturall impoffibilities to yefus Chrifi. Oh therefore, as you defire to grapple with thedifficulties thatyou do meet withal!, ftirre up your felves in a way of beleeving ; for you have heard that nothing elfe can do it. The Lord teach us to beleeve at a higher rate then everyet we have done.
