This is the great Obje&ion, and hands up continually, Anf, to refift the comfortsofGods people : Give me leave there- fore, todeal with this Obje&ion all along, and to take it off, that fo the comfort may fall the More fully upon you. Firft, I will Phew; It is no prefumption for us, to bear our felves upon the Interceffion ofJefus Chrift. Secondly, Who thole are, that the Lord Chrift does Intercede for in Heaven. And Thirdly, How willing, how infinitely willing he is to Intercede for us : that fo Imay bring the comfort neerer to our ownbofomes. I fay it is no Prefumption for us to bear our felves i. upon the Interceffion of Jefas Chria no Prefumption to beleeve. We know the Dory ofthe woman in the Gofpel, that came unto our Lord and Saviour, touching the hem ofhis garment for her cure, and fhe was cured thereby. But our Saviour perceiving vertue to be gone from him, he cals out the perfon, Who bath touched me ? comeforth ; and the woman came forth trembling. Our Lord and Savi- our Chrift, doesnot fay to this poor woman, How dare you thus touch me ? howdurft you thus preftune to do it? Confider, The woman had no Command to do it, no Precept toback her : The woman had no promife to en- gage her; that ifThee did touch the hem ofhis garment, fhe fhould be cured. The woman had no Example ; ne- ver any before that touched the hem of his garment and wascured : NoCommandement, No Promife, No Exam- ple : Surelynow, ifany woman, or man, fhould Prefunle, Itfhould be this woman, that had no Commandement, nor
