I tranflate the word here called Time, and call it delay of time, thus, that there should no more delay of time. For fo this word doth fomerimes fignitìe,protrafing, or long continuance of time in the Greek : Time will mollifie and mitigate, that is, continuance of time , whence a verb corned], that flgnifies to flacken , to come (lowly , toflay. f retar , and the com- mon fort of interpreters will have thefe words to beunderflood of the abolifhing of time after the confummation, if as the Sun, and the refs of the Stars should ay their courCes , and should no longer go their yeerly circuits. But they are to be referred rather to the íhortnefs of time that should be to the confummation. For other- wife here fhould be no fpeciall confolation, but fuch asihould be no Idle common to all ages. Foreven from the beginning of the world it might be well Paid , that there jhould be no time after the eon/sm- mation. To what end allo fhould he feparate the parts that were not at all divided ? But in the beginning of the next verfe, laying, Time 'ballbe no more but the myfery Ihali be confummsated. Time after the confummation,differeth not at all from the confummation. This is therefore the meaning of the words,that a very little time is no* remaining, until/ the finifhingof the myfery. Which is the funi of the preaching ofthe first Angel, Chap. 14. 7. For the horn ( faith he) ofindgement is coming, in which that which is here fignifièd by the Angelthat fweareth,is performed For they belong to the fame time, and the matter of their preaching is one and the fame.
