A Box of precious Ointment : Or, cafe of Ni,ryMagdaien, Luk. 7. the loved much, and the wept much, for much was forgiven her ; a fight of the free grace and love of Chria towards her, in an a& of, for given's, .broke her heart all in pieces. A man can't 'land under the 'billings of divine love with a frozen heart, nor yet with dry eyes ; the mokei man fees of the love of Chrift, and the more a man talks and enjoys of the love of Chriff, !the more that man \vill grieve and mourn for all the dilho- Jiours that he has done to Chrill. The more an ingenious child fees, and talks, and enjoys of his fathers love, the more he grieves and mourns that ever he fhould offend, fuch a fa- ther, or provoke fuch a father, who has been fo loving and i indulgent towards him. Injuries done to a friend cut deep,- and the more, near, and dear, and beloved a man's friend is to him, the more a man is affli&ed and troubled for any wrongs or injuries that are done to him ; and jult fo 'tis between God and a gracious foul. The free love and favour of God, and his unfpeakable goodnefs and mercy manifehed in Jefus Chrift to poor fin- ners, is the very fpring and fountain of all Evangelical for- row ; nothing breaks the heart of a poor tanner like the fight of God's frese love in a Redeemer. A man can't feri- oufly look upon the firilnefs, the freenefs, the greatnefs, the unchengeablenefs, the everlaftingnefs, and the matchlefsnefs of God's free favour and love in guilt, with a hard heart, or with dry eyes, Ez,ek. 36. 3 r, compared with verf. 25,26 01 who is there that has but one fpark of ingenuity, that can read over that heart-breaking-Scripture with dry eyes?
