71. ,of pifiification as continua., C4-1 A P. tg. csf one & the fame luflification ; for Iuftification prefuppofeth alwayesan Accufation , & feing neither God nòr the Law , will ever accule a Belee- ver ofbein tt e eleeN er, only Satan , & the world , & his own Mifguided Confciencett; now, if the Accufation of thefe or of Satan alone ( as he feemeth to nfìnuar p. Si. & elfe where , againfl M r. Cartwright ) be enough to lay the foundation of fuch a Iuftification , then as oft , as this Accufation is renewed ( & how oft that may be, who can tell ?) muffl the Lord reite- ratehis fentence c f 1 ufli ication, and pronunce the man a true Beleever : -and it will not be to fay that it will fufiice if the Lord manifell to the Mans confcience, that he is a beleever ; for why shall that be fuf icient now, more than at the.firlt ? and if this take away the neceffity of reiterating the fentencc , it will allo fay , -that there was no necefty for pronuncing the fentence of his being a beleever at the fire. None need to fay, that this fa- me may bealledged againll our Iuftification before God ; for the Iuflifica- don , we only owne , is in reference to the Accufation of the Law , & of juflicc & of God the Righteous judge , under whofe Curfe the finnerlyeth, .untill he be juflified , & when he is once juflified through faith in Chrift, - ,he is no more troubled with their Accufations ; for neither God , nor Law , nor Golpel accule a Beleever of being an Unbeleever & under the Curie a- gaine , whatever Satan , & his own mifguided confcience , or others may do. 6. He groundeth his twofold Iuftification p. 93. & 94. upon a two - fold Covenant with diftind conditions & a twofold Accufation for non -per- formance of the one, & of the other. But thus, as he shall make us fó be juftified by the old Covenant of works , & that by the principal jufti&a- tion , an abfurdity that he frequently loadeth our opinion with ; fo he maketh all the juftification which is according to the new Covenant to be upon & becaufe of our own perfonal Righteoufnefs ; which is allo repugnant to the whole Gofpel. We do not pertorme the conditions of the firfl Co- venant , and all the liberation from the Curie of that Covenant , under which we are by Nature is through the Surety- Righteoulnefs of Chrifl, imputed to us , & received by faith : and the Gofpel or new - Covenant re- vealeth no other way of Juflifcation to us. As for the diflinc`l accufations, we have laid enough already. Neither the Lord , nor his Law do ever ac- .cufe a Beleever of not beirìg a beleever , & as for Satans or others accufa- donsof this kind, a well informed confcience from the light of the word, & of the Spirit clearing up the work of faith , in the foul , & the true & real works of a lively faith , will be fufficient tò quiet the beleever , & flop . the mouth of all thefe Accufers; without theficílion ofanew &diflincl Ju- y1t+t,s lei<fi.cation , whereof the Scripture is filent. tf 'tÌ t r. But Mr. Barter in his lafl reply to Mr. Cartwright explaineth, the matter far otherwayes, telling us pug. 46. and forward. That the fire julifcation is by God as RçEfor , only by the pure Law of works, as Creator : rheother by God in Chrifl , as Redeemer & Rector of the Redeemed world. The file is conditionally pall upon the whole condemned world & that without any condition in man , whether faith or works CC fo it is both abfolu"te & .conditional.
