If it be Paid, That this cannot militate againft fuch , as take-in Faith with works. I Anf. It will militate againff fuch ; for works cannot acct upon the Righteoufnefs of Chrift, as faith doth; & therefore if faith & works concurre as conditions, in one & the fame manner, Faith is not here confidered, as a&ing on the Righteóufnefs of ; Chrift , but only as a work & another moral vertue : and fo the Righ- teoufnefs of Chrift is quite excluded. 3. Bleevers by Faith in Chtift , arecompleatly juttified , as to their fta- te & have all 'their bygone iniquities pardoned , and they are accepted as children in his Favour rob. is t2. they are made heirs of God & joynt heirs with Chrift Rom. S: 17. and are difcharged (as Mr. Baxter granteth him - felf Confeff. p. toe. Concl. 9. ) from all guilt of Eternal Punishment , yea & of all deltruétive Punishment in this life. Yea they are juftified from all things, from which they could not be juffified by the Law AEI. 13,:39. They are bleffed Rom. 4. 5, 6. And all this is fo fixed that none can lay any thing to their charge R9m. 3: 33, 34.. Yea they are faid to have Ever- lasting Life , /oh. 5: 24. Now , feing all this is by Faith : what necetie is there for another Condition , betide this fame Faith , keeping fait by Chrift , unto the Continuance of this State ? If it be fsai1, that notwith.- ftanding hereof, they are liable to future fins, and thefe mull all() be forgiven ; and in reference to the Pardon bf thefe, other Conditions may be required , & in that refpeét, thefe may be called Conditions of the Con- tinuance of Juiiification. 4. The anfwere to this will furnish us with another Argument; for an- fwere therefore I fay. That works are not the Condition of Pardon of after fins , but faith going to Chrift , and washing in his blond 1. joh. 2: 1;2. If Juftification be continued upon Condition of works , we enquire what thefe works are ?
