Conclufion in this. at, for whofe fins a plenary fatisfaCtion hath been made ( either by himfelf, or another for him ) d5 hath been accepted by him , a. gain(? whom the tranigref on was committed, is as juß d? righteous , as he that never finned , bui had done all things , that were reguifïte it meet for him to do. If by juft & righteous be meaned one , who only bath not deferved the punishment threatned ; then his Conclufion is true : but if by juß & righ- teous be meaned one , who not only hat -h not deferved the punishment, but path alto deferved the reward promifed ; then his Conclufion is falte; for the Satisfaaion , if it refpea only the tranfgreffion committed, can only par the man , for whom it is given & accepted , in the (late of one, that is un. der no obligation to be punished : but it cannot put him in the fate of one , who not only is not to be punished , but is alfoto be rewarded. He addeth. This is evident; becaufe there is as much juflice d7 righteoufnefs in repairing the the wrongs d5 injuries done io any , as there is in abflaining from doing wrong. Anf. True , in reference to the wrong done; and therefore fuch an one is rightly &'jualy delivered from the obligation to punishment; but is not made fo righteous,. as to challenge the reward , till a more compleet fatisfaítion be made , to wit, fuch as may comprehend alto perfeét conformitie unto the Law inall points, to the end , he, for whom this is done , may be looked upon as a fulfiller of the Law , & therefore to have right to the reward, as Ggg 3 .te
