By thefe particulars , ids that this Faith , whereof Fames fpeaketh (b much , and which he oppofeth unto works , Sc denierh juftification, & falvation unto is not the precious faith that Paul fpeaketh 'of. We have feen s that Paul & lamer fpea?c not of one & the fame faith , we shall now enquire, whether they (peak of One & the fame gufiif cation : And it it be found , that therein they differ , all ground of imaginable diffe- rence Will he further removed.- N.V./hat that juftification is , hereof Paul fpeaketh , is manifeft , & needeth not here be declared , for i t is piaiue , that he treateth of that jü[tüication, whereby a poor !inner , convinced of his fin & mifery , in lying under guilt., & under the Curie of God becaufe of fin, isahfoved before God from the fentence of the Law & accepted of Rini, and brought into aneftateof Favour &reconciliation, having a right unto Salvation , through Faith in Jefus Chrift. Upon the other` hr,nd , it is as obvious & cleare, that ¡ante; is not treating of this jt.ilificaticn , whereby a change of (late is made in the man. Big ofa;uftification of a tar other na- ture , even fut h a ju(tification , whereby the Mans Faith , the reality of his Chrittianity, & his juftification before God , is evidenced or may be evi- denced to himfelf, or to others. So that , whether we take juftification here , as mentioned by lamer , for the evidence & tiemonftration of juflih- cation , or for a jut ification of the truth of the Mans Faith & ChxiCtianiiy itcometh all to one ; for where true faith & true- Christianity is there is juftification, and there only ; fo that what demonftratsthe one , will de- mon(frat the other ; and a jollification , or manifeftation of the one will be aju(tificationof the other. Nor is this fenfe of the word juflifie, or jufti- fication alien from the Scriptures, as we fee Pp/. 51: 4. 1Zom, 3: 4. for God can not other wayes be jutlified , but by being declared , avowed, & pro- clamed to be Righteous.
