So that it mull be unqueftionable , that Tamer fpeaketh of all thofe par- ticulars, & that he fpeaketh Of juflification by works , in no other fenfe, the contrary whereof we have Peen already : Yet let us fee what thefe parti- cular refpetrts are , wherein ( as he faith) works are,not excluded from being Conditions of our juflification , or the matter of it. I. Saith he. And if this be the meaning of lames , when he faith , we are jufiified by works that , we are jufti fled by faith , we shall not contend, as to the thing; though we conceive games handlethanother purpofe, as is faid. 2. This upon the matter , is but the fame with the former , .& needeth no furrier anfwcre, as to our prefent queflion , concerning the meaning of fames, when he faith we are lutlified by works; for if this faith be not aanal obedience , lamer doth not mean actual obedience by the word works , but only that Faith , which isa content to figure obedience. But what the Faith is, whereby we are juflified , & what is its peculiar a&ing, in order to juftification, we have shown elfewhere.
