That Chrift maybe called our Righteoufnefs , becaufe h.e fati4ied the Father for us , & did fo give & communicat that Satisfaótion to us , when he ju(lifieth us, that it may be called our Satisfaaion & Righteoufnefs.') And againe ; this way it were not abfurd to fay , thae Chrift's Righteoufnefs & merites were imputed to us when they are given &applied to us , as if we ourfelves had fatified God. , So in Refp. ad 3. Arg. We are Paid to be the Righteoufnefs of God , not in ourfelves , but in Chrift , becaufe he is our bead , &-what agreeth to the head , agreeth to the members,' not ás they are diftinEtfrom the head , but as they are one with ir.
