Exceeding Sinjulnef of Sin. 63 Wifdom, becaufe in Sin thou profeffeft Gods wages arc not wayes of Wifdom, but thou knoweft better to provide for thy felf, than in that way God bath let thee; how doeft thou calf follyon thewaies of God, and fetteft thy mallowway and heart of thine before Gods, as if thou couldeft provide for thy felf and thy own good morewifely thanGod hath let thee in a way todo; The Word of Godand that re- vealed in the light ofNature, is nothing elfe lout fever:tl beams of the infinite Wifdom of God for theguiding of mankind unto happiizefs and glory; the light of Nature helps fomwhat, though it reach not far enough, yet i fay, the lightof Nature is madeup of feveral beams of Gods Wifdom, but the light of the Word is made up of beams of Wifdom, a great deal more brig?.t than the beams ofNature, now any Sinner that forfakes the waies of God, re- jeffs there beams of Wildem as if they were dark, and doth as if he fhould fay, I know.how better to provide by this way. Hence carnal men account the waiesof God foolifhnefs, and preaching of the Word foolifhnefs, and the ufual title that they give to thole that walk more aria than others, is this, What fools they are nothing but acompany of tools-that keep fuck a ftir : And it is an ordinary thing in the world for carnal hearts to calf folly upon the waies ofGod; and for their ('elves, they can fit at homeand applaud themfelves in their Wif- dom, as if theygo in a neerer way than others; and why fhould they be fuci fools as others ?
