s 18 Gofpel-Converf6ttion. Scripture is cleer, that neither Chrift nor his Kingdom is of this World , and therefore Beleevers are not of this world. And hence then , what Converfation becomes this Gofpel of ChrifI ? even a Converfation fequeftred from the things of this world, a Converfation that fhall manifefl the hearts being ta- ken off and difingaged from fublunary comforts, and accom- modations a Converfation which proves that the foul Peeks not great things for its felf here below, but is fully content with a morfel ofbread and a cup of cold water, though others fare delicioufly every day ; fo beleevers fhould manifefl in their Converfations that they do tìöt much pafs or care how things go in this world, becaufe Chrifl is not of this world, and the King- dom of Chrift in which they make account their happinefs to be involved, that is not of the world, yea they are men redeemed from this prefent world ; Gal. r. 4. it is faid, That by Chrifl' We came to be redeemed from this Drefnt evil World ; `it's a very remarkable Scripture) who gave himlèlf for our fns ; (to what end ?) That he might deliver u from this prefent evil World,ac- cording to the will ofGod, and our Father. I befeech you obferve this text, Chrift gave Himfeif to deliver us fromonr tins, that we might not perifh eternally : And was that all ? No, That He might deliver us from this prefent evil world ; I do not know a more forcible text in all the Book ofGod to take off the hearts of thofe that profefs the Gofpel from the world, fo as they íhould not whine and murmur at the lofs of every little thing in the world, nor be folicitoutly careful for the things of this life, nor be offended though the men of the world prevail in the world, and have the upper hand, and carry things in a world- ly way, let them ;;o on in all their pagentry and greatnefs : but if thou beeft one that belongfl to Chrift, know that Chrift bath laid down his life to purchafe thisfor thee, to deliver thee from this world ; Now, is Chrifts blood laid down to purchafe this? and yet wilt thou have thy heart glewed to the ground, and wholly place thy contentment in the Earth , and leek for thy happinefs here in the duft ? Oh get up thy heart then from all thefe things, and make it appear by thy Converfation that thou art one, that by venue of the death ofJefus Chrift, art delive- red from this world, and therefore though thou haft not fuch a porti-
