Golel-Converfation. weapons are weapons that are fpiritual, to prevail with the hearts and confciences of men and no further. And ifwe did un- derhand this aright, it would mightily quiet our fpirits ; and the more we did reft upon the weapons Chrift bath appointed in his Word, the more we did look into theArmory of the Go- fpel to find what weapons there are there againft errors and a- bufes in his Church, the more we fhould have the Kingdomof Chrift prevail amongft us. Eightly, The Kirgdom Chrift is Prot ofthis world : that is,the Priviledgesof Chrifts kingdom are not worldly priviledges, but Spiritual, and Divine, and Heavenly Priviledges. Men that live in feveral kingdoms have feveral priviledges, fome in one way, and fome in another ; fo every fociety omen, and every king- dom have priviledges, men that are fubjecsoffuch a Kiingdom, they have the priviledges that belong to fuch a kingdom. We plead for many priviledges as we are the free born Subjecîs of England, that the people have a right to by their freedoms, be- ing born free Subjeas,as thofe that are above them have a right to that power that theyhave. So now in the kingdom of Chriff, there are force priviledges that thofe that are in the kingdom of Chrift have that others have not. As now, When any man comes into the Kingdom ofJefus Chrift, Oh he comes to partake ofa great many excellent pri- viledges, being once made a free Denizon in this Kingdom of Chrift, he comes to have a great many priviledges that others have not. But of thefe I fhall treat more particularly after- wrads. Ninthly, The KingdomofChrift is not ofthis world; the penal- ties and punifhments that Chrift bath in his Church are not worldly ; I do not mean only external ones, for they may be refer'd to that head of the weapons of Chrift ; but we take them under another notion ; Thofe that are truly the Subjects of Chrift they may be under penalties: You think that thofe that are beleevers cannot be chaftifed for their fin; as if there were no penalties inChrifts Kingdom ; I confefs they are delivered from the penalties of the Law ; But Chrift inflifs penalties as he is King, there may be penalties in Chrifts kingdom.
