on the Excellency of the Soul. before wee come to give any anfwer , otherwife what do you hear this day, if there bee not fuch a heart as this, that you can appeal to God, and profefs that whatfoever this day the Lord (hail reveal unto mee from his Word that I Ihould do to fave my foul, here I am, and profefs to yeeld my felf up to the truths of God,if your hearts bee fo fram'd, then wee may have incouragetient to come and (hew you what ( hould bee done. Fourthly, And you mufl inquire conflantly too ; if you ihould not bee fatisfied at one time, never bee at ref+ till you are fatisfied, do not ask what I ( hould do, and come to hear what you ihould do, and then pals.it over, and let e- very little thing take this out of your minds again ; but when you begin to bee inquiring after the way of falvation, refolve that you will never give rea to your fouls, till you have gotten this queflion anfwered to you. é -- And there is a great deal of rea Ion that wee {hould ask this quellion in fuch a way. For,. Reaf. Firll, Every one of your fouls are in a loft con- dition naturally; therefore it concerns you to bee inquiring after the way of falvation. Secondly, The falvation of a foul is the moll difficult thing in the world; if ever thy foul bee faved, it mull colt more than Heaven and Earth is worth to fave it ; it is not therefore fuch a trifling bufinefs, the Paving of fouls : This I dare avouch, as in the Name of God, that the foul of the poorelt girl or fervant that is here, if it bee faved, it mull coil more than Heaven and Earth is worth to fave it; there - fore there is a difficulty in it.
