II2 Comforts for true mourners. Confider that God faith to thee after this manner, I am he that comforteth.thee, art thou difquieted ? Looke upon God thus faying to thee ; Why art thou call down O poore foule? Is there not more comfort in my word, in my power, then in any thing which thou-makeil.the object of thy difquiet, In the 57, of Ifa.I create the fruit of the laps, peace, &c. Thou cantl no: fee which way thou fhouldeil be comforted, and therefore becaufe thou canfl not thou thinkefl it is impoflible, but when thou.canft nor fee comfort thou íhouldell confider that God can create comfort for thee ; thou. ihouldefl looke upon God as a Creator of comfort, and not lye down in difcouragement. God will rather goe about his firft worke againe of Creation then that thou who art a true mourner thak want comfort, he will fall a creating comfort for thee:and this (hould flrengthen your faith, and flay up your foules in the faddeft times of darkneffe ;why there is nothing too hard for God, as he made all things of nothing by the bare word of his powerat the HI; Doll thou think that he is not able to create Comfort for thee now ? If God goe to worke doe not feare thy Com- fort. Eightly, and laflly, Suppofe thy condition were fuch as there was never any in the world in the like cafe, yet thou mayefl be comforted notwithflanding, I fuppofe there is not any here in this Congregation that are in that trouble of fpirit or body but that there bath fome of the Saints been in the fame if not worke.
