They that hunger are blet ed for the prefent, llletied are thofe fouls that hunger and thirfc after riobte- onkefle,for they have many gracious imitations unto the Lord; and unto Chrift, to come in to receive mercy, the Lord in- vites thofe foules to dome to him, and as they therefore faid in the Gofpel to the poor blind man, be of good comfort he calleth thee, fo I fay to all fuch as can approve their fouls, that that though there be muchweaknéffe in them, yet if there be this hunger and thirff after righteoufneffe, be of good comfort the Lord calls you, you are invited to come ; I'le give you the fe Scriptures for invitation, in the 5 5 of lfaiah, ( that knowne Scripture) Ho, every one that thirtieth, come ye to the waters, and he that bath no money, no worthinef e, come ye, buy and eat, yea, come, buy wine and milk without money, and with- out price. The grace ofGod is compared to thefe excellent things, and here s a proclamation to all that hunger and thirff to come unto the waters ; Thefe waters are both the righteouf rieflè of Jefus Chriff, and the righteoufnete of Sanélification ; And in the z of ph: 37. is another invitation, It's aid. That in !the 14 day, thereat day of the fe4, efus flood and cryed,fay- ing, If any man thirff let him come unto me and drink. Mark, Chrtft cryes unto thofe that hunger and thi ft : They it maybe are under force difcouragements, becaufe they cannot find that rig'hteoufneffe they doe defre , Chrifl -calls unto them, Come unto me ; furely they are bleffed that Chrift doth invite tó himfelf, and thatby cryingto them that they; fhould come to him : and that place in z z Rev, a 7. quoted for the righte- oufneffe ofChriff , and fo likewile is an invitation to them that hunger and thirff after this righteoufnefffe. Eighthly, As they are bleffed becaufe they are invited, fo they are bleffedbecaufe they are under many promifes, there are many promifes to the hungring and thirfting foul ; I'le give you force few, in PJa/. to. 17. Lord thou haft heard the de- fire of the humble, thou wilt prepare their heart ; The delire of fuch.as are huníble thou haft heard it, God hears it,and he pre- pares their heart ; Thou wilt caul thine ear to hear : thou pre - parefl their heart : Thefe delires that they have they are of my preparation, thou doefl prepare their heart with thefe de fires
