426 Wherein the fight of God appears to be filch a happy thi. god. whereby (faith he) that is, by the knowledge of God we come to be part leers of the Divine nature : and that fore -.. named place, in the 2 (or: 3. I 8. We beholding as in a Glaffe, . with open face, the Glory of the Lord. What follows ? We are changed into the fame Image, from Glory to Glory. The fight of God loth change the foule into the very nature of God, fo far as can be. What is it that makes the Saints in heaven to be fo like God, it is by the fight of him, faith the holy Ghoft there, we fhall be lke him, for we (hall fee him its he is : So that the light ofGod in heaven as he is, doth transforme the foules of the Saints, fo as they come to be like God They have the Image of God perfectly in them ; they fee God perfe 1ly,and according to the meaiure that any foule doth fee God in this wo ld,fo they come to be transformed into the Image of God; O bleifed are they that fee God then, for by the fight of him they come to be transformed into the likeneiie of him. Is it rot a bleifed thing for the creature to be railed to that ex- cellency, as to be made like to God himfelfe. This comes through the knowledge of God, O that men would be but in Love with this fight of God ; Thereby they would come to . know that there is another kind of excellency for man -kind, then to wallow in the-lulls of the fleth. Alas poore creature, while thou art fatisfying thy lefh, what doefi thou fee ? Thou feel+ thy Money; or thy .Cups, or full Difhes ; O what's this fight to the fight of God, thou haft an impure aid unclean heart, and therefore thinkel+ there is nothing better then the beholding of thefe things ; But bleff ed are the pure in heart, for they fhall fee God.
