Here is nothing fo excellent or compleat in this World, but hath its diminishment and qualifiCations ; and fomething ' that cloth difparage it and abates of the excellency thereof ; not the things of this World only , but fpiritual things in fome fort, as to enjoy them , and partake of them in this life , have their inconveniences and difparagement annext , and are mingled with fointthing that abates of their worth : an initance of which we have here in t'lis prefent Scripture which the Apoitle Paul fignifies to us concerning the_enjoyment of the Miniitry of the Gofpel of Chrift. He had in the verfe before the Text, told us the great pri- viledge that both Miniffers and others had in having the glorious Gofpel, viz. The light of the knowledge of the glory of God in thefact of yeftss Chrill, fhirung intoour hearts ; the conficleration ofwhic:1 is of great incouragement tous : yet adds this as a qualificationof it; . . viz. Nut we have this treafure in earthen refels, &c. Thatwhichcloth qualifie it , is , That this excellent treafure hath it's conveyances' throughweak andmean perfons, menof frailty and Mortality.
