The . word otherwifc may have a two-fold reference ; Firft to the word manifeft As ifhe had laid, though the goodworks of a manbe not prefently manifefl, yet they cannot be longhid,they (hall be opened and revealed. Secondly, The word otherwifemayrefer to good works,and fo it reaches the point fully ; that is thofe works which are not good, or otherwife then good, cannot be hid,though men labour much to hide them. Sinners, Ieave off your hiding, leave off your hiding, for you (ball not be hid.. There is noway for finners to hide themfelves fromGod ; they may hide them- felves in God, in the love, in.thefavour and mercy of God. Thus finners mayhide themfelves in God, but fromGod. they cannot be hid.
